·      Grading: The grades are weighted thus: Homework is 20%, Tests are 80%.

·      Testing: We use a program called “Mastery Testing.” The tests are divided into 5 “competencies” or main ideas from each unit. Each test is given three times. If the student passes all five competencies the first time (Test A), he or she is finished. A passing grade is considered an 80% or above. If the student missed one or more of the competencies, he or she will take the second test (Test B). They need only take those competencies they missed on Test A. If they pass the remaining competencies, they are done. If the student has still missed one or more competencies, he or she will need to schedule a time before or after school to take Test C. At that time the student will be given one last chance to pass the competencies. At the end of the process, I compile the best grades from all three tests for each competency, add them together, and calculate the grades. For more info about Mastery Testing, please feel free to e-mail me here.

·      Online Gradebook: There is an online version available for student use. Learners need not pack heavy books home if you have access to the internet. Follow this link and use this info: Log-in name: rrues,  Password: v5h2
